Why is Health & Safety so important?
Health & safety in the construction industry is extremely important due to the ongoing increased hazardous situations everywhere no matter what the project. Because of this, we always make sure our staff are briefed and updated continuously with any new legislations, current legislation and we conduct monthly toolbox talks to re-enforce best practices.
We are constantly looking at ways to improve our safety and reduce any risk exposure.
How do we ensure we are safe?
We engage the services of Safety & Access, who are a leading provider in scaffold safety consultancy as well as scaffold training.
There are no grey areas in Health & Safety, and because of this we have strict processes in place to minimise any injury or issue. As a minimum we conduct weekly harness inspections, daily vehicle checks, daily rigorous scaffold inspections and have a secure system for the reporting of any issues. New employees are inducted formally and are only allowed on site once we are confident they are ready to be there.
Young people on site have their own risk assessment conducted. When they are considered competent, they are paired with an experienced mentor who will guide them on a one to one basis until they are fully accredited AND competent to fulfil their role independently. It is our strong belief that by nurturing our apprentices and younger members of the team, we mould them to be real assets to our Company. Some of our longest time served team members came to us as apprentices and are fundamental to the success of Paul Pybus Scaffolding.
